Who needs a lactation counselor and when?

Lactation support isn’t just for emergencies!
Women who had breastfeeding difficulties in the first 10 days postpartum posed a higher chance of stopping breastfeeding entirely.

  • Not sure what to expect? Don’t know where to start? Allow me to come alongside you and start you off strong. (See prenatal support)

  • Been there, done that? Every breastfeeding journey is different, even from one baby to the next. Maybe this baby doesn’t latch like the others, or maybe you have past trauma from prior breastfeeding problems that went unaddressed. Allow me to come alongside you to help this unique experience be a beautiful and redemptive one!
    (see prenatal support)

  • Pain while breastfeeding is COMMON, but NOT NORMAL. Lets get to the root of this problem and give you a pain-free experience without the need for salves, shields, or emotional/physical stress.
    (see initial postpartum support)

  • We’ve all been there. “Is my baby getting enough?” is a question asked by 70% of moms (including myself!). With the use of a medical grade scale and a deep understanding of problems and solutions to these concerns, we can get to the root of these issues and restore confidence to your breastfeeding experience.
    (see initial postpartum support)

  • Ready to start that next season but don’t know where to start?
I know how emotional these next steps can be. Don’t go through it alone. Let’s come up with a plan together!
    (see hourly text/call support)

  • Been told you can’t breastfeed due to your baby having Downs Syndrome, cleft lip/palate, heart defects, etc? Breastfeeding actually will help your baby to thrive. Let’s chat about your baby’s personal struggles and try to figure out a plan to give them the best start together!

What is the benefit of having lactation support?

For mom:

  • Women that receive breastfeeding education and support are significantly more likely to meet their breastfeeding goals! Therefore aiding in the following benefits and more!

  • Women who exclusively breastfeed without pain or issues are 53% less likely to end up with PPD, and the longer you breastfeed, the higher that percentage goes! Lactation support from the start is a huge part of this!

  • Breastfeeding for just 1 year reduces the chances of developing breast cancer by over 26%, ovarian cancer by up to 70%, type 2 diabetes by 25-50%, AND hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and cardiovascular disease by 10-15%. Having support in that year makes this possible (and easy, even!)

  • Breastfeeding is free! Good quality or organic formulas can range around $40+/1-2 weeks! (That is over $1000-2000 saved after only breastfeeding a year!). Having support in this season makes the reward so great, not just financially!

For baby:

  • Breastfeeding for only 1 month reduces the chances of SIDS by 50%, and the longer you continue, the higher that percentage becomes.

  • While any amount of breastfeeding has huge positive impacts on a baby’s brain, studies show that breastfeeding for 12 months and beyond had the best outcomes of higher IQ, verbal intelligence, emotional function and cognition.

  • Breastfeeding is highly nutritious! Giving your baby everything they need right from the start, including antibodies to develop an immune system. As soon as your baby is exposed to germs, and goes to the breast, your body creates everything needed to fight off those germs effectively!

  • According to the Le Leche League, “Exclusive breastfeeding and the timing of the introduction of solid foods can help prevent allergies in babies.”

And according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, “the longer a mother exclusively breastfed, the lower the relative odds of her child having asthma, or asthma-related outcomes.”

  • According to the World Health Organization, Breastfeeding for 6 months or more was associated with a 25% reduction in childhood obesity, 20% reduction in childhood leukemia, and lowers the chance of developing type 1 or 2 diabetes.

“I am a first time mama who had a rocky start with my little one’s latch due to severe tongue tie. Rebecca held my hand through the tough moments, and even brought me the world’s best nipple balm. She is a wealth of information and always reminded me of how my body was made to do this and how God created my milk to be the perfect nourishment for my little girl. She is my go-to for any type of breastfeeding question!”

Ava B, Hellertown

“She was super helpful & honestly, it was just so nice to get feedback and know I’m not alone.”

Brianna K, Harleysville
